Overview
As with most of Williams other early releases Sinistar features fast-paced, challenging game play and eats up quarters. The player’s mission is mine crystals that make “sinibombs” while fending off workers and other enemy ships who are also attempting to mine crystals in an effort to build “Sinistar”, a nasty looking robot ship. Once complete Sinistar chases the player down while taunting him with synthesized speech, saying things such as “Beware, I Live!”, “Run Coward” or “I am Sinistar”.

The synthesized speech aspect of the game can be quite spooky for the first time player since it appears from no where. Additionally Sinistar is a very difficult enemy to destroy (only sinibombs can harm him). The game is a special 49-position optical joystick that allows for great control when playing the game.
