Quick Game Facts
Defender

You pilot a space craft which must defend the planet from invasion. Watch out, or the aliens will swoop down and pick up the humans, turning them into mutants. When all of your humans are gone, you're as good as dead.

This game was the first game to feature action that occurs outside of the play area. You must constantly monitor the radar on the top of the screen.

Coin-Op Overview

A notoriously difficult game, Williams hit a home run with Defender in 1980. The fast pace nature of the game, combined along with its FIVE control buttons and up/down joystick, sent many "newbie" players packing. However, with lots of practice, and lots of quarters, many players got to be extremely good at Defender.
