Marble Madness
Marble Madness, a later, classic Atari release takes a very simply concept and transforms into a great game. The objective is to guide your marble (using a track-ball) through different courses that are scattered with obstacles such as holes, acid, ice patches, evil marbles and such. The courses are drawn in a 3-D perspective and quite elaborate considering the age of the game (it was released in 1984). The game also allows two-player simultaneous competition.
Coin-Op Overview
The game was part of Atari’s “System One” series of games and appeared in a generic cabinet with blue and silver Atari artwork. The System One system allows one to relatively change the entire game by switching a big cartridge type game board, the control panel and the marquee. Other System One games include Indiana Jones, Road Runner, Peter Packrat and Road Blasters. A sequel for the Marble Madness was developed but never released.
