Original Bally Midway Solar Fox MCR System boardset from 1982 that is close to working, but has some issues. We had this set sitting in a box for many years. Recently pulled it out, cleaned and it tested it and it close to working, but it will need some help. Video and CPU boards appear to be working fine. Without the sound board connected they boot up fine every time.
There are two issues related to the sound board. First, when it is connected, the boardset will not boot unless you flip the power off and on after first powering it on. Appears to be a reset or power-on issue. This may be normal with Solar Fox, but we are not certain. Other MCR boards we've worked on do not behave like this.
Second, the sound does not work, we had it playing sounds at times and there is "amp buzz". We did find and a replace about 4-5 suspect sockets, but gave up. We think the AY-8910 sockets may be the issue and when we reseat those chips sometimes sounds will come back. In any case, we've lost interest in fully fixing the set.
To sum up, CPU and Video board seem just fine and the sound board will need some work.
